Biography: Dr. Anne Brown Thomason

ANN BROWN THOMASON was born in Clinton Tennessee and currently lives in Lakeland Tennessee. She started charcoal drawing when she was a child.  She spent many hours watching her artist mother who helped her by critiquing her drawings. Ann painted her first oil painting in 1994 and painted sporadically until March 2018 when she went full throttle and has been painting almost every day since then.   She enjoyed Forgotten Coast Plein Air this Spring 2018 and took lessons from three different Ambassador Artists.

Ann's main influence was her mother.  She is inspired by Cezanne, Manet, Monet and anyone who paints portraits in a realistic style.   Workshops she has  attended include Memphis Botanic Gardens two day course, 2000's Forgotten Coast and classes from Micelle Heald and Ruth Squitieri.  Ann recently finished a landscape in oils using palette knife.  She paints a lot of portraits in addition to seascapes, beachscapes and lakescapes.  She loves going into the studio, cranking up the music and cutting loose on the canvas.
