Artist Statement:

Educated and trained as a physician, my art education began as a child watching my mother paint. She was classically educated, and mine via workshops, art group classes and one on one with several professional artists after I retired from Medicine. I have received local awards and recognition , as well as having multiple works juried into national competition over the past several years. I was recently given Gold STAR artist recognition by another organization for my achievements in art.

I put the art studio in our home to good use after retiring, painting often daily and producing many works. My first love was painting portraits, then I received much inspiration painting beach scenes, seascapes and water and sky from our place in Florida. Travel often resulted in many paintings, some in series, from Alaska, France and the United Kingdom. I enjoy painting scenes from my original home in the hills of East Tennessee, near the Great Smoky Mountains. My primary medium is oil. I enjoy exhibiting my art whether for solo, small group, organizations, or in competition for local or national art societies. Sharing my art, whether in exhibits online or in person brings me happiness
